Coffee and heart-to-heart talking sim
Coffee Talk Tokyo is a casual and simulation game about coffee brewing and heartfelt conversations in a café in Japan. A new cast of humans and Yokai seek refuge from the Tokyo summer heat and share their personal stories, while you brew the perfect order and listen to chill lo-fi music.
Not your typical simulation game
Coffee Talk Tokyo is paired with a lo-fi soundtrack and pixelated graphics. It introduces new mechanics, such as brewing iced drinks and enhancing beverages with sprinkle stencils for intricate latte art. Furthermore, the inclusion of the social network Tomodachill allows you to engage deeper with customer stories while solving their problems.
The game, however, suffers from pacing issues. The slow conversations are frustrating, especially if they’re looking for quicker plot progression or more active gameplay elements than simply making drinks. Lastly, the overreliance on specific drink recipes to advance certain narratives can occasionally feel too linear or one-note for some players.
Lives up to its name
Coffee Talk Tokyo recreates the cozy, empathetic charm of the series while introducing fresh ideas and characters. It’s an ideal experience for those looking to unwind with a chill atmosphere and moving narratives. Anyone who appreciates the visual novel genre and the art of casual conversation will love this game.
